Bernice's Story
It is hard to describe BLCI without using the words “family” and “home,” because the staff does more than tutor and edit.
At BLCI, I was a person before I was a student.
I feel more than a duty to praise the program that helped me get to college.
I would be denying my family and friends by not saying how important they have been to my happiness and self-worth.
When Things went Wrong
Whenever something went wrong, I called BLCI first.
It was as if they never closed.
Late at night, the staff listened and reassured me, but most importantly, we worked together.
I was not afraid to cry at BLCI, and the staff can tell you, I wasn’t afraid to open up and be myself there, either.
BLCI made me feel strong, like I could learn from the things around me. Like nothing could stop me from going to college.
