What do you do as a volunteer at BLCI?
I'm the Network Administrator for BLCI. I take care of all the computers, servers, and internet.

What’s your favorite part of volunteering at BLCI?
I enjoy the interaction with everyone, both staff and visitors.

Why is BLCI’s mission important to you?
I came from a small town and low-income family. My parents supported me but could not offer any guidance about getting a college education and school counselors really only helped those who were top of our class.  I think every teenager should be offered the same educational support regardless of their status.

Can your recall a moment, student, or accomplishment, that made you feel like you were making a difference as a volunteer? One of the best memories at BLCI is when we installed the first computer lab and watching the kids start using them. I believed we had overcome a major obstacle in providing access to kids.

What advice would you give to students who want to go to college?
Believe that you are going to be a person that makes things happen, not watch things happen!  Don't be afraid to take the initiative.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to get involved at BLCI?
Meet with someone who is currently a volunteer so you can get a better picture of how you can contribute.

Anything else you'd like to share regarding your service at BLCI?
It's been a great honor working with BLCI, even if it's just in the background..
