What is your favorite class in school?
My favorite class is US History, because I learn a lot and it's fun. I'm doing excellent--I'm in the top three of the class.
Why do you come to BLCI?
I come to BLCI because it's a program that helps me with my homework and it's helping me to achieve my #1 goal, which is to go to college.
Why is getting a college education important to you?
A college education is important because, for me education is infinite--the more education the better. Not only does selecting a major help to prepare for my futue career, but having a college education is one of the greatest achievements I could make.
What motivates you as a student?
What motivates me to go to school and do my best is my will to go to college. I know that I'll be the first in my family to go to college. I'm self-motivated because I know that by working hard I will be better prepared to do great things in the future.
What advice would you give to kids who want to go to college? How can they make it happen?
Giving advice to kids who want to go to college is hard, because I myself am working to go to college. But, piece of advice I would give is to keep those grades up. You can make college happen by staying out of trouble, not making bad decisions, studying hard, and keeping your dream of going to college alive.
Is there an experience or activity at BLCI that you really enjoyed or found helpful?
The San Francisco trip was a big experience for me because, not only did I get to visit San Francisco, but I also got to visit and see a lot of colleges like UC Berkeley, University of San Francisco, UC Santa Cruz...It was fun and educational at the same time. It was helpful because I got a chance to see the different campuses and learn about the differences between each school. It will help me to decide what I'm looking for in a school, and it's one more step towards going to college.
Any future plans you'd like to share?
My plan is to go to college and get my BA and a masters and doctorate if possible. I want to continue my education. I would like to go to Berkeley, USF, Saint Mary's College or UC Santa Cruz. In five years, I see myself continuing my education, and in ten years I'd like to have a doctorate degree, an excellent job, be happy in life, and give something back to my community.
