Nitza' Story
My goals were to graduate high school, go to a four-year university, and become a successful businesswoman – and my goals are slowly but surely becoming a reality.
Achieving my goals is not going to be easy, but I know that I can do it because I have made it this far.
I was able to get through high school with the help of BLCI. BLCI provided me with tutors, access to computers with internet, and special workshops designed for college preparation.
Tribute
The summer before I graduated, BLCI took the senior class up north on a college trip that allowed us to visit many of the universities. We also really got to know Jennie, our new High School Coordinator.
There have been many coordinators throughout the four years that I have been at BLCI, but none have ever helped me like Jennie has.
Not only did Jennie assist me in me in regular high school tasks; she also helped me with my college applications and scholarships.
It Can Happen
Without the help of BLCI, I do not think I would have made it this far.
I know that new BLCI students will find the college process difficult because, for many students that are the first to go to college, it is hard to actually visualize that going to college can happen.
When I graduate from college, I would like to come back and help these students with what I have learned.
