Denisse's Story
In her eight years at BLCI, Denisse stood out as a young woman committed to giving back.
In elementary school, she knew she wanted to be a teacher, and she used every opportunity at BLCI to guide students having trouble with homework.
As a tutor, Denisse inspired students and staff with her patience, understanding, and passion for her community.
In her own words:
As a 4th grader at Perkins Elementary, Denisse wrote the following to then-Executive Director Julio Galindo:
I like coming to the BLEI after-school program because I like to learn about college very much.
When I grow up, I’m going to go to college!
