Students Live a Dream Ten Years in the Making

San Diego, CA - July 5, 2006

Graduation day is a big day for most kids – but when you are about to become the first in your family to go to college, like the kids at Barrio Logan College Institute, it is nothing short of a dream come true. 

 

On Saturday, July 15, parents, alumni, volunteers, and community leaders will gather at UCSD’s Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice as ten more BLCI students officially move on to join our alumni at schools across the country.  Our kids have worked since third grade to become the first in their families to go to college – many will be the first to graduate high school!

BLCI’s Graduation Ceremony and 10th Anniversary Celebration will begin at 1:00; a reception will follow.  Senators Barbara Boxer and Denise Moreno Ducheny, Congresswoman Susan Davis, City Councilman Ben Hueso, and Mayor Jerry Sanders are among the community, educational, and non-profit leaders invited to take part in the celebration.

Please join us as we look back over the past 10 years – and salute the students, families, and volunteers working to shape the future!
