COLLEGE-BOUND STUDENTS TO RECEIVE EARLY CHRISTMAS GIFTS

Univision KBNT-17 and McDonalds Unite for Special Holiday Drive
San Diego, CA – November 22 , 2006 

Change a student’s life this holiday season!  This week, Univision KBNT-17 and McDonald’s launched a month-long holiday drive inviting viewers to donate school supplies for the Barrio Logan College Institute, an after-school program for students working to become the first in their families to go to college.

Viewers are invited to donate school supplies such as notebooks, paper, backpacks, pens, pencils, rulers, etc. as part of Univision KBNT-17 and McDonald’s joint effort to give BLCI students the tools to excel as leaders in the classroom and in the community. The students will receive their gifts at a “posada” holiday celebration, hosted by Univision KBNT-17 San Diego and McDonald’s, on Saturday, December 16th.  

Donations should be dropped off at Univision’s facilities, located in 5770 Ruffin Rd., San Diego, CA 92123, or at BLCI, located at 1807 Main St., San Diego, CA 92113.

Barrio Logan College Institute prepares first-generation college-bound students for a higher education by providing free after-school programs and services that begin in 3rd grade.We work with local families to ensure a personal triumph for each of the 100 students who choose to make the journey to college with us. 

To date, our students have been accepted to Yale, Stanford, University of Virginia, Whittier, and UC Berkeley to name a few!
