SDG&E's generous sponsorship allowed our incoming 6th and 9th graders to spend a weekend at Calicinto Ranch in San Jacinto, preparing for the next portion of their journey on the road to college.
Our "Gear up for College" retreat is an annual tradition. BLCI students learn about the expectations of our middle and high school programs, and develop a plan to make college happen.
During the day, students participated in team-building and leadership activities, worked with the camp staff, and got to know their BLCI Program Coordinators, Carlos and Jennie.
At night, the groups gathered by grade level to talk about their college goals, brainstorm ideas about the upcoming school year, and share a little about themselves, their families, and their dreams of college.
Calicinto Ranch is also the ideal place for students to get to know each other while hiking though the mountains, swimming, playing ball, and relaxing together by the campfire!
BLCI would like to thank the exceptional staff at Calicinto, and SDG&E for making the whole trip possible!
SDG&E is a regulated public utility that provides safe and reliable energy service to 3.3 million consumers through 1.3 million electric meters and more than 800,000 natural gas meters in San Diego and southern Orange counties.
